Requirements for Truck Driving Jobs at SIMX

At Southern Illinois Motor Xpress, we follow the FMCSR driver qualification criteria for all our Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri truck driving jobs. Apart from this, we also have our own driver qualification criteria set by the company for all hires.

Here is what you will need to apply for a truck driving job at SIMX:

  • Be 23 years of age or older
  • Provide proof of identity and employment eligibility (Examples: State photo ID, SS card, birth certificate, etc.)
  • Possess a valid commercial motor vehicle driver’s license from one state
  • Have six months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience or a completed 160-hour driving course
  • Have no major or serious traffic violations against you, as described by federal regulations. These include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • An Alcohol or Drug related offense
    • Leaving the scene of an accident
    • Driving while license is suspended or revoked
    • Reckless driving, careless driving, or negligent driving
    • A speed in excess of 15 MPH over the posted speed limit in the past three years
    • No more than two preventable accidents in the past three years
  • Have successfully completed a road test and a certificate of road test issued by the motor carrier, in compliance with Sec. 391.31.
  • Have no positive result on a DOT pre-employment drug screen
  • Physically qualify to drive the vehicle, in accordance with Sec.391.41.
